The bus network of Kuching is the slowest but cheapest form of travel with different departure points based on the destination and operating bus company. The downtown area of Kuching is mainly served by 2 main lines which may help you to get from point A to point B.
The Kuching E-Bus Service serves a total of 54 locations throughout Kuching beginning at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly and ending its journey at the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre from 6AM to 4PM daily with an interval of every 2 hours.
The Sarawak Transport Company’s (STC) green and yellow buses serve the downtown Kuching area and leads into the southbound suburban segments of the city.
By Taxi:
Taxis can be prevalently found in all major destinations within Kuching especially in fundamental tourism zones, notorious hotels as well as major transit hubs such as Kuching Sentral and the Airport. The fee from the airport to downtown typically costs RM26. However, not all taxis utilize a meter so make sure to negotiate a fair fare beforehand before beginning the ride. Alternatively, call +6082-343343/342255 or +6082-348898 for 24-Hour Radio Taxi service (RM1 surcharge). Short distances around town are RM 7-12.
By E-Hailing:
E-hailing is arguably the most convenient mode of travel to get around Kuching with Grab having a major presence within the city especially within the city centre with competitive prices with taxis.
Car Rental:
There are various car rental agencies operating in Kuching and Sarawak as a whole with varying price ranges based on the model of the car and its capacity. Be wary of unlicensed operators as they will not be fully insured so make sure to look for the Hire & Drive permit fixed to the windscreen.
